I just got a call on my office phone. It was someone calling to ask my opinion of one of our service providers. The first question: "On a scale of 1 to 10, how likely would you be to recommend our service to another potential customer?"
Me: Uh...[pause]...Is this anonymous?
Them: No. This is not anonymous.
Me: [silence as I think about the people whose feelings might be involved]
Them: It is registered in our database with your customer name, so no, it is not anonymous.
Me: ......................
Them: You don't have to do it.
Me: Whew! Really?!
Them: Yeah, that's fine. You don't have to.
Me: Yeah, okay, good. That sounds good. Thanks.
Them: Okay. You have a nice day.
Me: [quick interjection] For what it's worth, I think you're doing a great job! I mean, you personally. On this call. I'd give you a 10. If that helps any.
Them: Well, no, not really. But I appreciate that.

At least you tried to make up for it in the end.
I think you were sweet! Really, what else could you do?!
way to not put you on the spot or anything! How do they expect to get honest results if its not anonymous? Think about teacher evaluations!
Oh that's funny!
I recently got an email "survey" link from my vet's office---the one who failed to diagnose my cat who'd lost 8 lbs in a few weeks and then she died.
I thought the survey was anonymous, so at the end where it asked if I'd suggest their practice to a friend and I said "no" and they said "why" and I explained my cat situation... YEAH... the vet has been calling my house wanting to "talk". I have nothing to say. My cat is already dead, thankyouverymuch.
Next time I'll ask if it's anonymous FIRST.
Exactly! Hyphen Mama, that is exactly why I paused. Because I don't want them following up - they suck and chatting won't change that - and I don't want them deciding to try even less to get things working. If they COULD do less and still stay in business...
I'd give you a 10 on this post.
Brilliant question! Most would assume it was anonymous. I'm all about constricting data collection. There's too much of it already out there.
Um, you okay? Hope you're just busy busy with life and family and work... and not something horrible!
Take care.
That's awesome!
