whatEVer!

I just had lunch with my 74-yr-old father. He drove into town to meet me. We went to one of the fancy downtown places with stained-cement floor and square plates and cucumber-scented water glasses.

He wants to know how I'm going to make the mortgage and the 2 car loans and the cost of food and the school-supplies-for-the-kiddo requirements magically disappear while I'm enjoying my midlife crisis in law school.

Thanks Dad.

dads have a way of bringing you face to face with reality don't they? My dad sure does! Everything will work out somehow- it's great that you have the guts to do what you want!

Cee - thanks, yes, they do. Somebody told me that my friends will tell me, "Go for it! You're awesome!" and my parents'll be like, "Are you serious? Did you fall and hit your head? Snap out of it this minute!" and the truth is somewhere in the middle. It's more fun to listen to the friends, though!

Butterflyfish - Thank you!! You guys (you-Butterflyfish, CM, ProtoAttorney, PTLawMom, TrannyHead, Cee, Shelley Mactyre) are an inspiring group. It's an honor to be among such a fun, articulate, open, thoughtful, insightful, helpful and warm (I could go on...) community. I sure hope the cohesion is maintained once everyone enters the working world for real.

Oh btw- our law practice management class is about how to run a law firm- from keeping records, anatomy of a law suit, handing over work product and balancing books, business strategies, etc (at least that's what I got from the description). Hopefully an easy class :)

Ah, dads. My father promised to help me with the mortgage and the living costs while I was in law school....and then he and my mother went through a nasty divorce, so all bets were off. At least you know where he stands to start with. :(
